The 2017-18 school year is here! Teachers in my district are going back for Inservice this week, and students come August 7th. You guys is it just me, or did those 2 months of summer break absolutely fly by?! I feel like every year my summer break goes quicker than the last! We moved from the house we’d been renting for 2.5 years (our landlord decided to sell it) into an apartment (and storage unit) right as the school year was ending, so I do feel like I spent a lot of my summer trying to get us settled in a bit. I always feel blessed to have time off in the summer, though, and know that is a perk of teacher life!
My Summer Hightlights
- Social Media side job for a local company
- My grandma (83 years old) visited us during our record high heat!
- Grand Canyon Road Trip with E
- Got to see my 2 sisters in MN & WI, plus my mom and her side of the family (for a day) also!
- Brunches & lunches catching up with teacher friends
Back to School
As school starts up again, my school is in for change. We have 2 new administrators, and I have 23 brand new 4 & 5 year old faces (and families) to learn all about! New carpet was installed in our rooms about a week ago and EVERYTHING was moved around, so I will be tackling a lot more than I usually have to in my classroom to get it ready for Wednesday night’s Open House. If you follow me on Instagram, I will most likely be sharing my classroom set up on my stories as I get everything spic and span!
Grey Denim, 2 Tops
Over the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I snagged two new tops with the school year in mind. I like these because they can be paired casually with blue denim (picture flares on Fridays), but also double as work staples. My district allows denim (as long as there is no distressing), so apart from wearing dresses, finding tops to go with grey, white, and olive denim is fun to use throughout the week so I don’t feel like I’m always wearing black pants!

I’m wondering how many of you still have a bit of summer left? I know in the midwest, they start right after labor day… Arizona seems to be one of the early birds. Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!
