Kimonos can be worn 3 seasons out of the year and make a statement in each. They’re an easy way to add a layer, wear something longer, or spruce up an otherwise plain outfit. This week I am collaborating with 11 other fashionistas to share Kimono Style ideas! Follow along on my Instagram stories so you don’t miss any cute kimonos and outfit ideas from other fashionable women!
I love wearing Kimonos in spring, summer, and fall, and am convinced you can use one kimono to transition easily through each of those seasons. Here’s how: 1) Pick a light-weight kimono 2) Pull out your favorite shorts, LBD, and jeans 3) Change out accessories to match the current season (like your shoes, jewelry, hats, etc).
I found this lace kimono and have loved the polished look it gives for a spring & summer outfit, and the boho vibe it gives off for a fall look. Check out my seasonal outfit ideas below!
SPRING & SUMMER: Denim Shorts + Layering Tank
Whether you’re into blue, white, or black denim, you can’t go wrong with this kimono. Grab a favorite solid-colored tank or one that matches the color of your favorite denim shorts and you’re set to go! This look was very easy to pull off and I accessorized by adding gold jewelry.
SHOP THIS LOOK:
Chain Necklace / Budget-friendly option | Desert Charm | Gold Disk Necklace | Black Shorts (No stretch, TTS, but size up for a roomier fit) | Black Tank Top (I get a M in these) | Kimono | TB Sandals / Under $50 TB Sandal Option / Budget-friendly option
SPRING & SUMMER: Midi & Bodycon Dresses
We all have a favorite LBD (and if you don’t have a favorite black dress in your closet yet, GRAB that staple ASAP!) and it’s easy to pull off impeccably with a kimono layered over. I think this would look amazing with an above-the-knee LBD, too, with a lower neckline. Even grabbing a solid dress that is more of a body-con style like these would look awesome under this kimono!

FALL CASUAL: Jeans + Hat
Pulling out jeans and booties gave me so much excitement for fall and cooler temperatures! I can’t wait until we have our cool evenings back and we have the healthy freedom to sip wine on patios with our friends again. Kimonos pair extremely cute with jeans – just add a fall color to go underneath & your go-to booties and you’re set. I also accessorized this outfit with a hat for a lace boho vibe!

FALL WORKWEAR: Black Pants + Leopard
Couldn’t finish up a style session without thinking of my fellow teachers! I will definitely be recreating this look when we are back to teaching in our school building! I knotted a favorite olive tank I’ve had for years, and threw on a pair of leopard loafers to add some jazz. You could easily pick heeled booties or a natural-colored loafer – either way, this kimono is going to look polished and pretty for work!

Have any fun plans to end the summer? I feel blessed that I got to fly back to the Midwest to see my sisters and mom back in June (considering the state of the nation right now). It is amazing what seeing family will do for your heart and mind. AND, thanks to my husband who loves to surprise me, now my BFF gets to visit later this week and I am beyond excited!! 🙂 We met in college as roommates about 15 years ago and she’s like another sister – we will have the BEST time being together again.
School starts in 20 days… August 10th here (teaching online through at least after Labor Day). I’m not sure that I’m ready for all of the unknowns that it will entail, but with a positive mind and faith that God is in control, I’ll can make it through anything.
Check back in August for some fun “Back to School” posts!
