When my mom came for a visit 2 weeks ago, we had a whole list of must-do’s like brunch, shopping, tacos, cutting out laminated math centers (because #teacherlife), watching some chick flicks (New in Town is always a must when we are together), and a nice dinner out with Eric. It was the best 4 days a daughter could spend with her mom (per usual) – I am so blessed.
Our favorite stop was finding deals at the Tanger Outlets in Glendale across from Westgate. My mom wanted a new suitcase (so we went to the Samsung Outlet), I wanted some [discounted] Lululemon leggings (and there’s a Lululemon outlet there!!!), and we both wanted to browse through any store that might have some pretty, spring-to-summer dresses. Enter: LOFT Outlet. They were having a BOGO FREE dress sale! My mom got a black and printed dress, and I found a beautiful maxi and the ruffle beauty featured in today’s post.
My fashion journey stems from my past “obsession” with what my teacher was wearing when I was younger (read more here), and shopping for a dress to wear this spring and summer is no exception to the fun. When I was a little girl, my favorite thing about spring and warmer weather was deciding which dress I was going to pull out for Easter Sunday’s church service. My sisters and I always did this together… putting away those black Mary Janes and pulling out our white sandals. This memory lives on for me even still! I love picking a dress that emulates the spring season.
With all of the fun that comes with Easter, in thankfulness I remember the sacrifice beyond my understanding that was made for you and me – the reason we celebrate Easter…
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live,
even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”
– John 11:25-26
Jesus died so we could have hope and new life. He did not stay in the grave, but rose on the third day and now waits in Heaven for those who have faith and believe in Him. One day, even though we will eventually die when our time on earth is over, those who believe in Him will live with Him f o r e v e r.
The ruffles definitely drew me to this dress when my mom and I were browsing the dress sale at the LOFT Outlet. The style is very flattering with the addition of the tie, and all I did was add a gold chain necklace and favorite neutral heels and I was set. I am so excited to have a 3-day weekend to visit my younger sister and 4 month old niece in Minneapolis! I can hardly wait to squeeze them in a big hug. Hope you have a beautiful Easter weekend with your loved ones!
