Styling wide-leg pants can be easy if you keep these 3 things in mind. First, start by picking out more fitted-types of tops. Next, keep the top simple and stay away from large patterns. (The pants should remain the focal point.) Finally, add a belt, or be sure to tie the sash into an eye-catching bow.

These striped pants caught my eye because I am really enjoying the lightweight, wide-leg pants trend for work especially while it’s still so warm out. I have similar types of pants in olive, black, in two different floral patterns, and now added these striped ones! The pattern in these allows (and forces!) me to wear bright colors rather than my comfortable black and white go-to tops. See style ideas below!

Coral Colored Mock Neck Top

I see this top working really well for work. It is bright, has great coverage, and the close-fit style looks nice tucked into the wide-leg pants.

Berry Colored Top

This is another pretty color to pair with the wide-leg pants. Again, it is a fitted top rather than loose, so it tucks in and looks polished with the wide-leg pants.

Gray Knotted Top

I love how this top pulled out the gray-colored stripes on the pants! Since this top is longer and not as fitted, I decided to knot it and pull the belt out of the pants, and I really like how that changed things up!

Black Ribbed Top

I would consider this more of a weekend/date night look since the ribbed top does not have as much coverage on the back and arms as I prefer for work. However, pairing other fitted black shirts (perhaps a black tee) with the wide-leg pants would look so cute for work, too!

Which is your favorite? Let me know in the comments. Hopefully this gives you some inspiration in styling neutral wide-leg pants. I am really enjoying all of the patterned, flowy pants out in any given store right now!

  1. These are such cute pants- I love them!!! My fave looks are the mock neck, the bright purple-y pop of color and REALLY digging the knotted gray top! Thank you for sharing these styling ideas!

    1. Thank you! I loved the purple with them also. And, I was surprised at how much I liked removing the tie and just knotting the tank!
