Closet Staples, Part 2

Teacher FashionistaMy Closet, Teacher Styles, Wear to Work

I like to treat every day as a “first impression” kind of day. When I get ready in the morning, I am looking for an outfit that has a professional appeal and is easy to wear.  I have clothes in my closet I continually rely on that are budget-friendly, classic pieces you can mix and match – and that is what this series is featuring. You can read Part 1 here.

Basics to help you Build and Organize your Wardrobe:

1-2. The work-friendly LBD (Summer / Winter):

Who doesn’t love the versatility of a Little Black Dress? It goes well in warmer months with statement jewelry, sandals, or wedges; and in the cooler months with scarves, jackets, and boots! Find a classic style, and you will go back to it year after year.

3-4. Trendy Scarf:

A scarf can add interest to any outfit from fall to winter. Think light-weight scarf for September through October, and those coveted plaid scarves for chilly November through February.

5-6. Summer Wedges (a or b):

Wedges are comfortable, and look more dressy than a flat sandal. When searching for a pair that will look professional in the workplace, find ones that are neutral and not too tall.

7-8. Boots (black or cognac):

Tall boots are so much fun with a LBD! Make them work-appropriate by keeping them under the knee with a 2-3 inch heel.

9-11. Jacket (blazer, faux leather, or denim):

Another easy way to change the look of a LBD is to add a jacket. This fall, there are SO many choices! A denim jacket can work for casual Friday – but find a girly blazer, olive green jacket, or a faux leather jacket – and you have some classy, interchangeable looks that will keep you going back to your LBD over and over again!

Add some sparkle and carry a cute satchel, and you’re set!
