I am enjoying putting this series together so much! (Read my first post in this series here.) Now that summer is underway, I still want to plan relevant outfits for those on summer break, and those who may still be doing the 9-5 or 8-4. My focus is on finding items in my closet that can double for work and play. In Arizona, the heat has settled in. Usually when I work in the warmer summer months, I look for pencil skirts, dresses, or ankle pants. So this week, I went through my closet and pulled out a few tops that can easily be dressed up or down.

Today I am sharing a few summer tops I found from some of my favorite places to score a deal: Target and Old Navy! See how I styled them for work and “play” below!

Summer Brights

This fabric lays SO pretty! I love the trendy little ties, and think it goes beautifully with these ankle-length skinny dress pants and nude pumps. This would also look great with a white or black little blazer over it. I would also pair it with a patterned or solid pencil skirt, navy pants, or white pants.

It also looks so bright and cheerful with summer shorts! I have had these in my closet for a few years now and still find myself pulling them out every summer because they are nice and lightweight.

Can’t go wrong with white in the summer! I added the gold sandals, and think it looks nice and dressed up for a weekend look.

Light-weight Ruffle Top

This top has the cutest little ruffles! I wore a cami underneath for an extra layer since the fabric is a bit light. Pairing this with navy was a no-brainer because navy and white always make me think of summer. As you can see, I have a thing for nude heels in the warmer months!

Here comes your classic summer look: white & distressed denim. I love this simple look and think all it needs is some turquoise or pink accessories to make it pop!

Versatile Chambray

Chambray works in every season as shown by this sleeveless button down! I think adding a little tie in the front is a fun option instead of tucking. I love it paired with black pants or pencil skirts. I think one of the best parts about a chambray top is pairing it with floral or patterned skirts like this polka dot one. And again, putting a colorful or black blazer over this it takes the look up a level.

See how these shorts work for multiple styles & colors of tops? The tulip hem and pom poms jazz it up a lot!

If you’re not into patterns, then pairing chambray with classic white is a polished option, too!
